Community Work Projects |
After satisfactorily completing the learning labs, youth move on under the supervision of TwoCor staff to community work that is more physically, mentally and emotionally demanding. Most of the jobs are labor intensive: wildfire mitigation, house clean-ups, fence-building, trail maintenance, etc. TwoCor also serves local low-income senior citizens, offering clean-up services or basic maintenance on a sliding scale or volunteer basis. The community work projects require youth to tolerate more work hours, expanded responsibilities within varied environments, interaction with customers, and more critical assessment by the supervisor.
The youth receive a pay check that reflects the additional responsibilities and challenges. After successful practice and acculturation to workplace expectations, these youth are equipped to enter the next and final program phase--the business practicum.
